SBI is the biggest bank in India — over 50 crore customers. And every single one of them has been annoyed by this at least once: you download your account statement, tap to open it, and there it is — "Enter password to open this PDF."
The frustrating part? SBI doesn't always use the same password formula. It depends on how and where you downloaded the statement. The YONO app, Net Banking portal, and emailed statements can each use a different combination.
Here are all three formats so you can stop guessing.
🔑 SBI Statement Password — The 3 Formats
Format 1: Mobile Number + DOB (Most Common)
This is what you'll encounter most often — especially for statements sent to your email or generated through Net Banking.
The formula: Last 5 digits of your registered mobile number + Date of Birth in DDMMYY format.
Working example:
- Your registered mobile: 9876543210
- Your DOB: 12th May 1990
- Last 5 digits:
43210 - DOB in DDMMYY:
120590 - Password:
43210120590(11 characters total)
Format 2: Your Account Number
Some downloads — particularly from the older Net Banking interface — use your full 11-digit SBI Account Number as the password. No name, no DOB, just the account number straight up.
Example: 31234567890
Format 3: Date of Birth Only (YONO App)
If you generated the statement through the YONO app, the password is sometimes just your Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format (8 digits).
Example: DOB is 12th May 1990 → 12051990
🤔 None of These Worked?
Before you panic:
- Check for spaces: Make sure you didn't accidentally add a space before or after the password
- Mobile number: SBI uses the mobile number registered with your account, not necessarily the one you use daily. If you've changed numbers, the old one might still be linked
- Try all 3 formats: Since SBI isn't consistent, just try each one. One of them will work
- Contact your branch: If nothing works, visit your nearest SBI branch with your ID. They can confirm which format applies to your account
