Union Bank of India locks all e-statements with a password — that part you already know because you're staring at the "Enter password" prompt right now.
The good news? UBI uses one of the simpler formulas among Indian banks. The bad news? There are a couple of edge cases that trip people up. Let's sort it out.
🔑 The Union Bank Password Formula
First 4 letters of your name (ALL CAPS) + Date and Month of birth (DDMM)
That's it. 4 letters + 4 digits = 8-character password.

What If Your First Name is Shorter Than 4 Letters?
This is where people get stuck. If your first name is "Om" or "Raj" — that's only 2-3 letters. UBI fills the remaining characters from your middle or last name, ignoring spaces.

- The bank reads it as
OMKUMAR(no space) and takes the first 4:OMKU - DOB: 5th April 1988

Don't Forget Leading Zeros
Single-digit dates and months need a zero in front:
- Name: SNEHA PATEL
- DOB: 4th May 1990 →

⚠️ The #1 Reason It Doesn't Work
You're not using the name that's in Union Bank's system. This is the most common issue. The bank uses whatever spelling was entered when your account was opened — even if it's wrong. If they typed "SURESH" but your name is actually "SURESH KUMAR," or if there's a typo like "SUERESH," you need to match their version exactly.
Check your passbook or any official bank letter for the exact spelling they have on file.
Also: it must be ALL CAPS. rohi2211 won't work; ROHI2211 will.

What if I have a single name (no surname)?
If your bank records show only one name — say "PRIYA" — the password is the first 4 letters of that name + DDMM. So: PRIY0504. If the name is fewer than 4 letters (like "OM"), contact your branch to confirm what they have on file.
Does Union Bank support receiving unencrypted statements?
No. All e-statements sent via email are encrypted as per RBI guidelines. You can view statements without passwords inside Net Banking, but downloaded PDFs are always locked.
I recently changed my name at the bank. Which name does the password use?
